The Sun Remembers Everything
Calling Sister Midnight
When I found the Solar Radiation samples, I was given the launching coordinates for the track.
Recently, I have enjoyed listening to Carbon-Based Lifeforms and how they pair an organic-sounding bass with arpeggiated melodic lines. Using the same kind of framework for the instruments, I arranged the simple chord progression in the timeline and piled on the effects and vocals.
The warm, muzzy nuzzling sounds of Apoxode’s solar radiation samples give it a sense of being a living being. I am reminded of the movie “Silent Running” and the idea of the sun seeing it all and remembering everything. I almost called the track (Not So) Silent Running.
And I wrote a poem. It’s heard backward in full, and the forward parts of it have been used as well.
The Sun Remembers Everything
We think each day begins as
Something new, but really
The sun remembers everything
As it slides through time, so grand
We think it has no measure,
When, in fact, it is ticked
With the things we see and imagine
Because what we imagine survives.
